Body & Space, 300 level special topics course

This course explored the role of performance, interactivity, and sculpture within contemporary art making during the time of a pandemic. Through the investigation of techniques and processes of traditional woodworking, mold-making, mixed media, and metal fabrication, students found successful solutions to creating and exhibiting work that relates to our bodies and the space we occupy. Projects included: Mask/Ritual Exercise, “How To…” Video Exercise, Body as Tool Exercise, “1,2,3,GO!” Exercise, Ephemeral Materials/Performance Assignment, Quarantine Mail Art Exercise, Sound Art Exercise, Light/Projection Exercise, Immersive Environments/Interaction Assignment, Alternate Realities Exercise, Earthworks Field Activity Assignment, Quarantine Survival Kit Exercise, and Cultural Response Assignment.
